Steps

TRESemmé stylist, Tyler Laswell, shows us how to create a Hairline Braid for Curly hair in this step-by-step tutorial. Tyler uses Nourishing Rituals Hydrating Serum and 24 Hour Body Non-Aerosol Hair Spray to achieve this look, perfect for day or night.
  • Step 1, Part Hair

    1.

    Part Hair

Start by creating a part wherever you like it.

  • Step 2, Section Hair

    2.

    Section Hair

Measure about an inch or two back from the hairline. You can make this bigger for a bigger braid. Clip back the remaining hair to keep it out of the way. Start by prepping the section with Nourishing Rituals Hydrating Serum.

  • Step 3, Begin Braid

    3.

    Begin Braid

Start much like the 3-Stranded Braid and take three sections but instead of crossing over, cross under the middle section. Each time adding a little bit of the remaining hair from underneath the braid into your sections. As the braid gets closer to the ear, begin to pull in tighter in order to pull the braid into the scalp. Continue to braid off the scalp for about three to four inches so that you have enough slack to tuck it behind the ear.

  • Step 4, Secure with an Elastic

    4.

    Secure with an Elastic

Secure the ends with an elastic.

  • Step 5, Secure with Bobby Pins

    5.

    Secure with Bobby Pins

Secure the braid behind the ear with bobby pins. Once in place, you can release the back section.

  • Step 6, Apply Hair Spray

    6.

    Apply Hair Spray

Finish with the 24 Hour Body Non-Aerosol Hair Spray and smooth down any flyaways.
